Hodge, William E., Sr. – age 93, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. He was raised in the Baptist Faith. William was born on a farm in the Bluegrass Community on July 11, 1918. He attended the "old" one room Bluegrass School. During the great depression he met and married his wife of 74 years, Bonnie Pinner. William learned to weld and worked in the wartime shipbuilding industry in Jacksonville, Florida and Mobile, Alabama. After the war, he worked in the construction industry for the remainder of his career. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed gardening and beekeeping. William was preceded in death by his parents, Cordia Melissa Neely and Robert Hodge; siblings, Ella Mae Dunlap, Robert Lee Hodge, Ruth Long, Catheryn Winkle. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kate Pinner Hodge; son, William E. Hodge, Jr. and wife, Becky; daughter, Donna Faye Sorensen and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Brittany LeAnn Hodge and Robert W. Hodge; great grandchildren, Emma Kaitlyn Hodge; sister, Juanita Lee; half-sister, Virginia Herron and husband, Roger. The interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.rosemortuary.com
