MCCULLOCH, VICKI SWAN -passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the age of 90. She was born June 20, 1921 in Balm "Banner Elk" NC; the daughter of the late Roby and Sara Fina Shomaker. She had four sisters: Lois, Eudine, Louise, and Helen "Baby". Affectionately known by family and friends as "Aunt Vicki", she was a member of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, TN Federations of Women's Clubs (1969 First Lady of Knoxville), Deane Hill Country Club, UT Faculty Club, and Club LeConte. As a civic leader, she passionately volunteered in support of many organizations; charter member of Arthritis Foundation, American Cancer Society, Symphony League, Ijams Nature Center, and local and state garden clubs. Vicki enjoyed beautiful flowers and gardening, winning many blue ribbons in flower arranging and tabletop competitions. She was a "yellow dog" Democrat, faithfully supporting local/national party candidates and always enjoyed working the polls. Aunt Vicki loved traveling with her friends and family domestically and internationally. An avid bridge player, she also supported UT sports, especially Lady Vols Basketball. Vicki never met a stranger! One of her most favorite vacation destinations was High Hampton in Cashiers, NC. She looked forward to yearly birthday celebrations with family in the mountains at High Hampton. Vicki loved hosting parties and spending time with those she loved. She is survived by nephew and nieces; Jon (Karen) Williams of North Augusta, SC, Tommi (Wilbur) Curtis of Knoxville, TN, Sara (Fred) Ilardi of North Augusta, SC, and Lois (Glenn) Johnson of Summerville, SC. Her most precious "joy filled ray of sunshine" great-great nephew Ayden, son of great-niece Victoria and Dr. Claude Frazier of Knoxville, TN; sister, Helen Valois of Hilton Head Island, SC, and beloved pet Max. Aunt Vicki will be remembered by countless multiple generation nieces/ nephews, family and friends whose lives she touched. The family gives special thanks to her physician of over 35 years, Dr. Monte Biggs and nurse Anita and Dr. Michael Holt, Charlie of Long's Drug Store, Jeff and Gail of Girling; her loving caregivers Angel, Betty and Donna; close friends Isabella Thomas-Heinson, Mary Costa and Mary Hutchinson. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church Friday, March 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Holton Siegling and The Rev. Mark Lampley officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include her condo association neighbors/friends and James Myers, Jr. The family will receive friends following the service in Barron Hall; the Interment is private.
