Frey, Janet Ann Spitzer – age 59, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012. A life-long member of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, Janet was a special lady who made all of us feel special, loved, and cared for. She was the perfect hostess, listening friend, giving servant, and role model of a great wife, mother, and grandmother, and sister. Jan taught kindergarten in Knox County for 33 years. In her retirement she enjoyed Beth Moore Bible Studies, volunteering at her church, and the Knoxville Museum of Art. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dr. Julian and Twanda Spitzer. Jan will be missed by her husband of 33 years, David Frey; daughter, Amy Frey Shinlever and husband, Kory; daughter, Rachel Ann Frey; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Colin Shinlever; brother, Julian (Judd) Spitzer, Jr. A Celebration of Jan's Life will be held on Tuesday, March 27, at 3:00 pm at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. L. Holton Siegling, Jr., the Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stanfield, the Rev. Mark D. Lampley. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church designated to S.H.E.E.P. (Sequoyah Hills Early Education Program), 3700 Keowee Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919. The family will receive friends on Tuesday following the service at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church in the Barron Hall. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
