Herbold, Arlene M. – of Knoxville, passed Wednesday, January 4, 2012. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. Arlene was born June 5, 1934 in Chicago Illinois. In 1954 she married George Herbold and has been blessed with 57 years of marriage. Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was an avid reader and a dedicated Lady Vols Basketball fan. Those who knew Arlene were charmed by her uplifting spirit, unending smile and quick wit. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel Stahl, and grandson Austin M. Herbold. Arlene is survived by her loving husband, George Herbold; son and daughter in law, George and Mary Herbold, III; son, Jeff Herbold; daughters, Carol and Cheryl Herbold, all of Knoxville; grand children; Anthony Herbold, and Elliot and Alexa Herbold; sister, Lois Koppit, of Palos Park, Illinois; and her four legged friends, Gracie, Aubrey, Katie, and Mavrick. A celebration of Arlene's life will be held 11am Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rich Elseroad officiating. Entombment to follow at Highland West Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prayer Shawl Ministry or Choir at Grace Lutheran Church, 9076 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923 or Ft. Sanders Foundation/Parkwest Palliative Care Program, 280 Ft. Sanders West Blvd, Ste 100, Knoxville TN, 37922.
